The Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation (EAF) is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization, created to fill a void in education funding. Its mission is to provide financial support to individuals and organizations engaged in lifelong learning. As one of the few such organizations administered by African American women, it has a unique approach to philanthropy that allows it to meet the diverse needs of a complex society. Scholarships are the primary means by which EAF carries out its mission. The Foundation awards Merit, Financial Need and Youth Partners Accessing Capital (P.A.C.) scholarships.

Any African-American, Hispanic American, or Native American U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is majoring or planning to major in physics, and who is a high school senior, college freshman, or sophomore is eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Since its founding in 1988, BLACK EXCEL has helped young people and their parents all across the country to navigate the difficult college admission process. We have tried to make the way easy and accessible. As a result, we are happy to say that we have helped hundreds of African Americans get into college who might otherwise not have done so. Our scholarship list has been called "the most comprehensive" available for Black students.

CBMCC scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Character, scholastic achievement, community service, and need are all part of the judging criteria. Scholarships are awarded to a deserving senior at Calvert High, Huntingtown High, Northern High, and Patuxent High.

Concerned Black Women of Calvert County is proud to announce the availability of the Professor Charles J. Ogletree, Jr. Scholarship. CBW is offering scholarships to graduating African American High School Seniors to attend Institutions of Higher Learning. The scholarships are for training and education beyond the high school level.

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Spouses are comprised of the wives and husbands of the African American members of the United States Congress. The CBC Spouses were established in 1976 as a part of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF). For more than twenty-five years, the Spouses have worked with corporate sponsors to establish educational and training opportunities for high school and college students. Since 1988, the CBC Spouses have dedicated their time and talents to fulfilling their mission by establishing programs which support the educational endeavors of students throughout the nation. The CBC Spouses have awarded more than $9 million in scholarships to deserving students.

With a combination of need-based grants, scholarships, loans and student employment, we work hard to make FAMU affordable for all admitted students. Through its Education and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $7,500 annually to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.

McDonald’s Scholarships (Annual) – http://www.mcdonaldsnymetro.com

Ronald McDonald House Charities® local Chapters, with support from Global RMHC®, McDonald’s® and McDonald’s® Owner/Operators, offer scholarships to students from disadvantaged communities who face limited access to educational and career opportunities. These scholarships are part RMHC® and McDonald’s® ongoing commitment to education.

High school seniors who have at least one parent of African American heritage and are eligible to attend an institution that offers accredited post-secondary instruction may apply. Applicants must also reside within the geographic boundaries of a participating program.

The Minority/Disadvantaged Scholarship Program (Architecture) - www.archfoundation.org/aaf/aaf/Programs.Fellowships.htm

The American Architectural Foundation offers the Minority/Disadvantaged Scholarships in order to encourage diversity and equity in the architectural profession. These scholarships are open to high school seniors and college freshmen who plan to study architecture at a NAAB-accredited program.

The NAACP remains committed to working everyday to ensure that young people of color have a bright and fulfilling future ahead of them. The NAACP offers six scholarships with awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per academic year.

National Society of Black Engineers Scholarships – http://www.nsbe.org

NSBE provides various scholarships to our members through our NSBE and Corporate Scholarship Programs. Individual scholarships range in value from $500 to $7,500. Scholarships promote academic achievement and not all have a GPA requirement, so we strongly encourage all members to review the listing of scholarships available.

Ron Brown Scholarships – http://www.ronbrown.org

The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. Current college students are not eligible to apply.

Scholarships for Minority Accounting Students - www.aicpa.org/members/div/career/mini/smas.htm

This program provides awards to outstanding minority students to encourage their selection of accounting as a major and their ultimate entry into the profession. Funding is provided by the AICPA Foundation, with contributions from the New Jersey Society of CPAs and Robert Half International. For two decades, this program has provided over $12 million in scholarships to approximately 1,600 accounting scholars.

Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund – http://www.thrugoodmarshallfund.net/v1

Students interested in applying for a TMCF Scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • A citizen of the United States of America
  • Full-time student pursuing a degree in any discipline at one of the 47 TMCF "member schools"
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and community service with a high school GPA of not less than 3.0;
  • a combined verbal/math score of 1650 or more on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or a score of 25 or higher on the American College Testing (ACT) examination
  • Recommended by their high school as academically exceptional or outstanding in the creative and performing arts
  • Demonstrated financial need and maintain not less than 3.0 GPA each year for the duration of the scholarship

To be considered for a UNCF scholarship, you must meet certain basic eligibility requirements:

  1. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  2. Students must have unmet need as verified by the university financial aid office
  3. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).

CampusRN is launching a new scholarship program in conjunction with the creation of the CampusRN state edition network. This nationwide scholarship program is the most comprehensive of its kind for nursing programs and nursing students because it features scholarship winners from every state in which CampusRN launches a state edition site. CampusRN will award a $1000 scholarship to a needy and deserving nursing student in each state on the anniversary of the launch of that state’s customized site.
